The extraordinary physicochemical properties of layered double hydroxides offer great potential in a wide range of applications, and interest in this class of 2D material has grown significantly in the last decade. Applying functionalisation strategies to LDHs unlocks their heightened performance and opens up new opportunities for the design of novel materials.
Readers new to the field will gain the fundamentals of functionalised LDHs in the first part of the book, which examines their sources and synthesis. Researchers already working with LDHs will discover new possibilities as the second part explores the wealth of applications available around the world, including energy storage, photocatalysis, environmental remediation, sensing, agriculture, and medicine. The final part explores several case studies with real-world applications, before concluding with an examination of the emerging trends and future outlook in the field.
