Hafiz is one the most cherished classical Persian poets, his poetry adored in Iran and admired internationally by figures such as Goethe, whose West-Eastern Divan was inspired by the 14th-century master. This book presents new English translations of a selection of Hafiz's lyrical poems by Iran expert Homa Katouzian, focusing on Hafiz's core themes of love and wine as well as sheiks, Sufis and mysticism.
