African Philosophy and its Association with Psychology and the Social Sciences
is a symposium of leading voices addressing philosophical questions and considerations
that psychological and other forms of social science research and
practice raise.
In doing so, it offers a unique introduction to the philosophical understanding
of the methods of social science research from the perspective of a range of African
philosophers. There are many features of predominantly qualitative research
that will be presented and considered in this book, forming a repository of African
philosophical writings that consider the nature and processes involved in
qualitative, psychological, and social science research. The questions addressed
include, but are not limited to, fundamental metaphysical questions, questions
about the nature of the data or information that will be gathered and how this
is collected, the types of enquiries being engaged and the form those enquiries
may take, the position of the researcher within the research process coupled
with reflexivity. African Philosophy and its Association with Psychology and
the Social Sciences is an up‑to‑date collection of chapters on the relationship
between philosophy and the social sciences from the perspective of philosophy
that has developed and exists in Africa.
This book will be of interest to undergraduate and postgraduate students and
researchers in psychology, African studies, philosophy and social science.
