Beginning with an examination of the historical and comparative background, the book looks at the decisions made by social workers on financial aid and the way in which they are arrived at. Among the questions examined are the extent to which there is any well-defined policy on financial aid, the overlap between the work of social work departments and other agencies, and the effect that financial aid has on the relationship between clients and social workers.
