It provides not only a compact summary for those within the industry but also provides understanding of its problems and achievements for those outside it. The fluctuating world fuel situation threw the fortunes of the coal industry up and down and this book examines these changing fortunes within the context of the new challenges from North Sea oil and other newer sources of fuel.
