First published in 1952, The Universities and the Theatre contains the papers read at the Symposium on the Responsibility of the Universities to the Theatre which was held in April 1951 in the University of Bristol. The book discusses themes like drama departments in American universities; drama and the French universities; study of theatre history; the professional theatre and the universities; drama in schools; the amateur theatre and the universities; and creative research and the universities. This is an interesting read for the students of theatre studies.
