In prehistoric California, the exchange of ideas and materials between different groups was largely driven by intergroup trade, facilitating not only the spread of objects but also the diffusion of knowledge across vast regions. Archaeologists rely on evidence from these trading networks to understand the cultural exchanges and the crafting techniques used by ancient peoples.
