Intelligent Environments 2018

The term ‘intelligent environment’ (IE) refers to a physical space in which IT and other pervasive computing technology is interwoven and used to achieve specific goals for the user, the environment or both. IEs have the ultimate objective of enriching user experience by enabling better management and increasing user awareness of that environment. The accelerating pace of technological development calls for the realization of innovative IEs; something that scientists, researchers, and the general public would all like to see. This book presents the workshop and tutorial proceedings of the 14th International Conference on Intelligent Environments (IE18), held in Rome, Italy, 25-28 June 2018. The conference focused on the development of advanced intelligent environments, and the 9 workshop and 9 tutorial proceedings included here emphasize the multidisciplinary and transversal aspects of IEs, as well as covering a number of cutting-edge topics, including: smart cities; environmental protection; smart sensing systems; personalized health and intelligent workplaces; ergonomics; healthcare; and education and learning.
