Co-occurring Mental Illness and Substance Use Disorders

The textbook includes three sections that discuss mental disorders categories that overlap with substance use, diverse populations and their needs, addressing risk factors, barriers to treatment, and unique treatment approaches using different evidence-based body/mind/spirit treatment modalities. This revised edition is updated with three new specific population chapters on Indigenous people, support for Spanish-speaking clients and clinicians, and military and first responder personnel along with additions on psychedelic-assisted therapy and wellness approaches. Using an integrative pedagogy, the book helps readers broaden their understanding of co-occurring disorders through case studies, learning objectives, key terms, quiz questions, suggested resources, and references.
