This book provides a new understanding of the relationship between crop markets, agricultural practice and sustainable development. In conclusion, Véron suggests that appropriate regulation of markets and consumer pressure – rather than either ‘free’ trade or withdrawal from markets – have the potential to direct agricultural producers to apply more sustainable practices.
