Adopting an intersectional approach that considers gender, race, sexual orientation, and other dimensions of identity, the book revolves around two main pillars: content and audience. The first objective broadens the scope of analysis to include non- American fictional portrayals of journalism, while the third objective focuses on how different audiences engage with and interpret these representations. Interwoven throughout both is the second objective: to analyze diversity in fictional journalism and understand how audiences from various backgrounds perceive and respond to the inclusion of or notable absence of women and minority journalists.
