First published in 1982, The Liberation of Capital develops a challenging and critical confrontation of orthodox and Marxist theories of capital with the unifying concept of ‘free capital’ – human creativity and intellectually-derived productivity. He argues that progress must include the recognition of the essentially organic nature of the economy and that it will proceed through the level of understanding of all engaged in the development of participation. He advocates a variety of practical proposals, including the contractual sharing of added value.
