This book is for all those who have ever asked, “What is real?”
For any who have had deep and troubling questions emerge in their spiritual life.
For those who often wonder what faith, belief, or spirituality even mean.
The brief thoughts expressed in Skeptical Believer draw upon the moments in the spiritual journey when we have been stopped in our tracks by a flash of beauty, a glimpse of wonder, or a question seeking understanding.
These free-verse poems started as a personal record of reflections intended for nothing more than providing insight into Frisbie’s own spiritual development and progress. As time and readership progressed, they became much more. These provoked and provoking thoughts demanded to be collected and shared.
James D. Frisbie has always been a writer, beginning to journal as a college student during a year in West Africa. He has written sermons, news articles, and even radio spots, but nothing seems to bring his thoughts into the light as well as the “exercise in brevity” that poetry provides.
Now, these poems are offered to readers in the hope that they will add perspective and curiosity about the amazing life of faith and wonder available to us all.
