The Light INTerception and UtiLisation family of crop models

There is a wide range of models in the LINTUL family of crop growth models. All are based on a simple relationship between leaf area index and light interception and the concept of light or radiation use efficiency to convert intercepted radiation into dry matter. This chapter provides an overview of key relationships that are part of LINTUL implementations to describe potential, water limited and nutrient limited production situations. Some extra attention is paid to recent improvements to account for CO2 fertilization, N limitation and N, P and K limitations.
