This book provides a compact overview of India’s economic reforms in the financial, trade and agricultural sectors, and the impact of these policies on India’s economy since 1991.

This book is divided into three parts. Part I deals with financial sector reforms and outlines different financial systems and their workings, with a detailed discussion on the trends and progress in the Indian financial system. Part II deals with trade policy reforms and provides a bird’s-eye view of the developments in India’s external sector from 1950–2026. Part III expounds on agricultural reforms and charts a status report on pre- and post-liberalization agricultural policies. The major reforms in the agricultural sector, including major schemes, their impact, progress, and prospects, have been discussed at length, in addition to the land reforms.
