Goddess of Swizzle

Goddess of Swizzle invites the reader to “a feast for here and now.” A recurring theme, given voice in the title poem, is a call to focus on and value the present moment—with its beauty and sorrows—rather than on some perfect scenario. Ah, an occasional flight of fancy! “Swizzle” means to stir or mix, as if with a swizzle stick. In this collection, the author—who earned her MBA from the Maryland Bartending Academy—stirs up memories from childhood, adolescence, midlife, including her passion for ekphrastic poems. This collection includes reflections on: Family, Colors, Love, Loss, Art, Healing, Celebration, Friendship, Community, Culture, Imagination. Each poem is a story/vignette, and each includes mention of a food or drink, to highlight ways we nurture ourselves and one another.
