With the real words of staff and residents from two, very different, dementia care homes, the author examines how, at every level, human relationships are vital – an idea which is becoming increasingly recognised and accepted across the UK and beyond.
Holding Time offers a predominantly psychoanalytic contribution to dementia care, the author draws on a variety of perspectives to illuminate her understanding what she observes in the care-home setting. The focus throughout are the experiences of all those living (and working) with dementia, and, crucially, how we can make the experiences better.
